Man accidentally shot while walking dog in Santa Cruz

Police are searching for a suspect after a 32-year-old man was shot on Leibrandt Ave. and Beach St. while walking his dog Thursday night.

Santa Cruz police said the incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. and the man was shot once in the torso. Witnesses reported seeing a group of males and females involved in an argument with a drunk man and during that altercation someone fired a gun.

Police said the victim just happened to be walking by at the time and was not involved in the altercation.
