Mail theft investigation in Santa Cruz County

Deputies with the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office are investigating mail thefts from the Summit and Boulder Creek areas of Santa Cruz County.

Deputies said the suspects are targeting group mailboxes that are away from homes.

The Sheriff’s Office has followed up on leads and has collected potential evidence, but would like the communities’ assistance in keeping an eye out for suspicious cars in these rural areas.

Deputies recommend all outgoing mail be taken to a post office box and said to not leave anything in personal mailboxes for pickup.

Officials ask that you report any suspicious activities to the Sheriff’s Dispatch line.
