Morgan Hill car crash leaves one dead
A San Jose man is dead after a car crash in Morgan Hill on Wednesday, March 8, CHP says.
Benito Mercado was driving on Peebles Avenue at an unknown speed when his car rear ended another vehicle.
Per CHP, his unsafe speed caused him to sustain major injuries. It is believed that Mercado was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
Mercado was transported to San Jose Regional Medical where he was later pronounced dead.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
