Police said officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest on the train tracks near West Market Street Friday afternoon.
The man told officers that he knew the shooter and identified him by his nickname. He also gave police a detailed description of the shooter.
Officers then arrested 50-year-old Paul Aledo for the shooting.
Witnesses said they heard the victim and Aledo arguing and then the sound of a gunshot, but it’s not clear why they were arguing or what led to the shooting.
Aledo has been booked into the Monterey County Jail for attempted murder.
The victim was airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center with life-threatening injuries.
