Five arrests in Monterey armed robbery

Five people are facing felony charges for an armed robbery in Monterey Sunday night, according to the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team.

Investigators said Exxon Gas on Fremont Blvd. was robbed around 10:27 p.m. before several other incidents including brandishing of a fake gun near Del Monte Ave. and Virgin Ave., a burglary at Shell gas on Canyon Del Rey in Seaside and ending in a pursuit near Blanco Rd. in Salinas.Officers said Ismael Valenzuela, 22, of Salinas, Raul Lopez, 25, of Salinas, Brandon Escobar, 19, of Salinas and two juveniles were arrested.Monterey Police, Marina Police, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the various incidents.

Valenzuela, Lopez and Escobar were taken to the Monterey County Jail and the two juveniles were taken to Monterey County Juvenile Hall.
