CHP reopens lanes on Highway 17

Good news for drivers who need to use Highway 17 to get where they need to go this weekend.

CHP has reopened the busy route one lane in each direction.

The CHP is asking that drivers please drive carefully.

Following a massive mudslide, CHP on Friday closed the highway after CalTrans detected movement on the hillside and feared that more of the slide could come down onto the highway.

Many drivers encountered four hour detours.
