Driver killed during crash in Big Sur
UPDATE 2/9/17 3:33 p.m.: Deputies said they have now identified 41-year-old Lara Danica Anderson as the woman who was killed during a crash early Monday morning near Captain Cooper Elementary School.
According to California Highway Patrol, Anderson was not wearing her seat belt and died on the scene after hitting a tree.
Deputies said that tragic events like this happen too often and would like to remind everyone to buckle up and slow down during this stormy weather.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to deputies.
PREVIOUS STORY: A 41-year-old woman from Big Sur was killed during a crash early Monday morning near Captain Cooper Elementary School, according to CHP.
CHP said an officer, who was wrapping up an overnight shift, drove by the crash and turned around to help the woman after she’d crashed into a tree.
After calling for help, officers said the woman died at the scene. It’s not clear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
