Thursday afternoon play canceled at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

UPDATE 2/9/17 5:00 p.m.: Tournament officials said the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has officially been canceled for the rest of Thursday because of the rain. Officials say the tournament is scheduled to start back up Friday at 7:30 a.m. The weather was not very forgiving Thursday afternoon as Pro Am spectators and players both had to deal with heavy rains and high winds. Most spectators say this wasn’t the case in previous years. “Last year we could have worn shorts, but it’s still a beautiful place.” said one Dallas man. “We were out here [two years ago] it was 75 degrees and I thought it was pretty funny. First time here everybody was laying out catching rays instead of watching the golfers” said spectator Chris Mahr. Nobody was catching rays this year. Instead spectators and those out on the course were ready for the rain. Before that rain really got started though, the wind came first. Forcing Pro-Am players to deal with the added challenge of wind whipping their faces. “It’s very tough, yeah it’s really blowing” said one of the day’s players. Still maintaining a sense of humor before the rain another player adds, “The good news is it’s going to start pouring in about half an hour and we’re going to be inside with a bowl of soup.” UPDATE 2/9/17 3:44 p.m.: Tournament officials said the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has officially been canceled for the rest of Thursday because of the rain. Officials say the tournament is scheduled to start back up Friday at 7:30 a.m. UPDATE 2/9/17 2:30p.m.: The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has been temporarily suspended because of rain on the course, according to tournament officials. PREVIOUS STORY: The tee time for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has been moved up an hour early Thursday due to a storm set to hit the Central Coast. Organizers of the event said the tournament will now start at 7 a.m. so players can try to finish before the bad weather arrives. This comes after a wet start to the Pro-Am Tuesday and Wednesday. Chief Meteorologist Dann Cianca expects dry weather for Saturday and for the championship round on Sunday.
