Watsonville taekwondo instructor out on bail arrested on seperate charges
A taekwondo instructor out on bail has been arrested for allegedly providing marijuana candies to one of his underage students.
Watsonville police said detectives served a search warrant and arrest warrant on the 200 block of East Lake Avenue and the 1400 block of Freedom Boulevard at a taekwondo studio in Watsonville.
According to police, a three-week investigation into Nemesio Estrada the taeknowndo instructor, is what led to his arrest.
Police said Estrada was being investigated for giving marijuana candies to one of his underage female students.
The case was brought to the attention of officers by the child’s parent, who found the marijuana candy in the child’s backpack.
The child was taken for medical treatment as a result of eating the marijuana candy and having a negative reaction to the drug, according to officials.
Police said Estrada had been arrested in 2016 for having a sexual relationship with a minor from the taekwondo studio.
According to police, Estrada was out on bail in that case.
Police said parents of students at the studio were made aware of the arrest, but the business remained open.
Investigators are currently trying to figure out if more victims are out there.
