UPDATE: Northbound Highway 17 reopened Wednesday afternoon

UPDATE 1/11/17 1:40 PM: The northbound lanes of Highway 17 are now open at Granite Creek Road, according to Caltrans District 5. Earlier Wednesday morning, northbound traffic was diverted to one lane on the southbound roadway due to a rock slide.

UPDATE 1/11/17 4:07 AM: Northbound traffic on Highway 17 is now being diverted to one lane on the southbound side to allow drivers through the area.

ORIGINAL STORY: More closures are in effect across Santa Cruz County, due to flooding and downed power lines.

According to California Highway Patrol officials, Highway 9 is shut down at Sylvan Avenue. A tree and power lines are blocking the entire roadway.

In addition, northbound Highway 17 is closed once again due to another mudslide. Vehicles are exiting at Granite Creek and re-entering on Santa’s Village Road.
