Sketch of drive-by shooting suspect released

On Wednesday, Santa Cruz police released a sketch of one of the suspects involved in the drive-by shooting on December 26, 2017.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, 30-35 years old, with a light complexion, and wearing a dark colored beanie.
The victim is in stable condition and recovering from his injuries in a Bay Area trauma center.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Santa Cruz Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting near Beach Flats Park that injured a 19-year-old man.
The shooting appears to be gang related, according to Santa Cruz police.
It happened Monday night, December 26, 2016 just before 9 p.m. at the intersection of Raymond St. and Leibrandt Ave. The victim and witnesses told police that occupants of a car shot at him, striking him and an unoccupied vehicle parked near the intersection.
“The victim received a significant wound to his upper left leg and was flown to a Bay Area trauma center,” said Santa Cruz Police Dept. Deputy Chief Dan Flippo in a press release issued today.
The victim is from Santa Cruz, Flippo confirmed.
The suspects, three to four men, were last seen driving the wrong way on Raymond St. towards Beach St. in a light colored four-door compact with tinted windows.
