Wind and rain hits the Central Coast

Emergency repair crews are out in force Thursday as a significant winter storm passes over the Central Coast.

The storm is producing locally heavy rain and gusty winds that have the potential to damage property, flood intersections and down trees and power lines.

Pacific Gas & Electric Company has established command posts and assigned crews to potential trouble spots in the Santa Cruz mountains and Pebble Beach. The company says hundreds of employees are monitoring and tracking the storm.

City works crews are also keeping busy. In Salinas, crews are keeping an eye on roads and intersections that are traditional trouble spots.

KION’s Paul Dudley is out in the rain, as well. He’s following the work and will have a live report tonight at 5 and 6 p.m. on KION 5/46.
