Suspect robs Watsonville market at gunpoint

Watsonville Police said investigators are looking for a suspect who robbed J&D Market and a customer at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon.

Officers said the suspect entered the business in the 200 block of Riverside Dr. just after 2 p.m., pointed a semi automatic handgun at a male customer with a child in a stroller and the clerk, demanding money from both.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 20 to 25 years old, wearing black pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt with a red logo on the front and a bandana over his face with a skull design.

Officers said they quickly responded to the scene but the suspect got away with some cash from the customer and the clerk. They said he ran toward Marchant St. and no one was hurt during the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 831-768-3350 or the Crime Tip Line at 831-768-3544.
