People hospitalized after eating wild mushrooms in Monterey County

The Monterey County Health Department is warning residents to take caution when gathering and eating mushrooms in the wild. Local hospitals have reported an increase in illnesses due to mushroom poisoning. Health officials say if you experience abdominal pain, cramping, vomiting and diarrhea after eating wild mushrooms you should seek medical attention. Officials say it can lead to death.
