Monterey Police: Cannery Row stabbings were gang related
UPDATE 12/6/16 5:20 PM: Monterey police say two men accused of stabbing each other Saturday on Cannery Row are rival gang members.
Police reported Tuesday that Joel Robledo, 40, of Salinas and Frank Guzman II, 27, of Castroville fought and stabbed each other inside the Blue Fins Billiards and Cafe at approximately 1:21 a.m. Saturday.
Guzman II was booked into Monterey County Jail for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with gang enhancements. His bail was set at $1 million.
Robledo was initially hospitalized for his injuries. On Tuesday, he was released from the hospital and booked into Monterey County Jail for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with gang enhancements, and probation violation. His bail was set at $1 million.
ORIGINAL STORY: Two men stabbed each other early Saturday in Monterey outside of the Blue Fin Cafe, police said.
According to police, the stabbing happened around 1:30 a.m. on Cannery Row and Prescott Ave.
Both men were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time. The men were arrested and now face a long list of charges including attempted murder.
