Salinas stabbing suspect turns himself in, police say

UPDATE 12/2/16 1:44 PM: A suspect accused of stabbing a man multiple times in the parking lot of Ross Dress for Less on North Main Street in Salinas Sunday night has turned himself in.

Police say Finees Ruiz, 21, was booked into Monterey County Jail on Thursday.

Investigators say the Prunedale man and the 19-year-old victim were arguing over an ex-girlfriend when the suspect stabbed the man.

UPDATE 11/28/16 6:00 PM: The Salinas Police are looking for a Prunedale man who is suspected of stabbing a man in Salinas Sunday night.

Finees Ruiz, 21, is suspected of repeatedly stabbing a 19-year-old man as he sat in a car parked outside the Ross store in the 1500 block of North Main Street. According to police, the men where fighting over an ex-girlfriend.

Ruiz fled before officers arrived. Police recovered the knife at the scene, but believe Ruiz may have others.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Ruiz is described a Hispanic male adult, 6′, 180 lbs, thin build, and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack. According to police, he may be driving a beige 2000 Honda Accord 4 door, CA license # 4K2A632.

Police are asking for the public’s help and hope someone will encourage Ruiz to turn himself in.

ORIGINAL STORY: A 19-year-old man is hurt after being stabbed several times in Salinas. It happened at 9:30 p.m. Sunday night in the parking lot of Ross at 1520 North Main Street.

The victim struggled with the suspect and was stabbed multiple times in the upper body. He was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a thin Hispanic man in dark clothing, about six feet tall. A knife was recovered at the scene.
