Man tries to run over Hollister police officers
Hollister police arrested a man who tried to run over officers with his car late Wednesday. He was booked into San Benito County Jail on various charges including assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm.
Police say Felix Casillas, 34, drove up to an active investigation of an auto theft chop shop near Briggs Alley and College Street. Casillas got out of his car and yelled at officers before getting back in and accelerating toward them. One officer received a minor injury.
Casillas again stopped his car and attempted to run on foot. He was caught and arrested without further incident. Police recovered a loaded, Tech 9 automatic handgun which they say Casillas dropped as he ran.
In addition to assault and firearms charges, Casillas was charged with possession of a controlled substance while armed.
