UPDATE: Salinas homicide suspect accused of killing parents
UPDATE 11/18/16 6:26 PM: Detectives confirm Ricardo Escamilla and Amalia Bayardo Escamilla, the two victims of Tuesday’s double homicide in Salinas are Ellin “Omar” Escamilla’s parents. Escamilla is on the run and suspected of committing the murder.
UPDATE 11/18/16 5:55 PM: The Monterey County Coroner identified the two victims of Tuesday’s double homicide in Salinas as Ricardo Escamilla, 71, and Amalia Bayardo Escamilla, 65. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.
UPDATE 11/17/16 4:15 PM: Salinas police say Ellin “Omar” Escamilla is on the run and suspected of committing a double murder in Salinas.
Escamilla was considered a person of interest when police discovered the bodies of two people Tuesday in a north Salinas home. On Thursday, police announced they had obtained a felony warrant charging Escamilla with two counts of homicide.
Police say they have received confirmed sightings of Escamilla in the greater Los Angeles area. Police have also recovered the vehicle he had been driving, a brown Lincoln MKX CA: 6SMS157.
Based upon past work and family history, investigators believe Omar Escamilla may be traveling to the El Centro, CA or Yuma, AZ area.
Police say the names of the victims will be released sometime late Friday.
UPDATE 11/16/16 1:48 A.M. According to the Salinas Police Department, a relative of the homeowners on Essex Court stopped by and found the house in disarray before calling 911.
Officers arrived to find one man and one woman dead inside the home. It is believed they are related to the residence.
Police say another relative, Ellin Omar Escamillia, 25, also lives at the home but was not on scene. It is unknown whether he was absent during the crime, directly involved or may himself be harmed.
The Salinas Police Investigations Bureau is currently seeking Omar Escamillia as a “person of interest.” He may be driving a brown 2011 Lincoln MKX sport utility vehicle with a California plate of 6SMS157.

Police say a man and woman were found dead in a home. A warrant was issued at 8 p.m. for the home. Police are looking for a person of interest in the case who they say was living where the bodies were found.
Police have not released the victim’s identities or relationship status.
