Prospective medical marijuana growers sign up

Medical marijuana growers are nearing the deadline to register with Santa Cruz County as a prerequisite before landing a license once a county ordinance managing the industry is officially approved.

County officials say a medical marijuana cultivation ordinance is under review.Registrants are required to complete forms and pay at $500 fee by Sunday’s deadline. Earlier this week, county officials said 89 prospective cultivators had completed the registration process and another 267 have applications started.KION’s Brandon Castillo will have more on how the county plans to move ahead after Sunday’s deadline and if California’s Proposition 64 could have an impact – calling to legalize adult use of recreational marijuana.
