Two Marina residents arrested after high speed chase
Two Marina residents are behind bars after a high speed chase in a stolen vehicle.
It happened on Sunday night, just before 11:59 p.m. An officer with the Marina Police Department spotted the pair in a stolen vehicle out of Reno, Nevada in the 300 block of Carmel Avenue.
The driver refused to pull over and sped onto Highway 1, going as fast as 100 miles-per-hour.
Officers followed the vehicle as it exited the highway in the city of Monterey, before reversing directions and heading north on Highway 1.
Once the vehicle reached the Imjin Parkway off-ramp, it once again exited the highway and went off the roadway.
It became stuck in the sand and ice plants, so both suspects got out of the car to escape on foot.
The passenger, identified as 21-year-old Kevin Easter Jr. was quickly caught. The driver of the stolen vehicle, 25-year-old Kayla Ann Miles was able to keep running.
A perimeter was set up around the immediate area and a canine team from Salinas PD finally located Miles, who suffered minor injuries from the canine bite.
Both Easter and Miles were booked into Monterey County Jail.
