Man accused of molesting young Santa Cruz girl

A 47-year-old man is facing child molestation charges after the mother of the preschool age girl discovered video evidence, according to Santa Cruz Police.

Investigators said the girl’s mother confronted Timothy Ritchison with the video and then drove to a friend’s home to call police Thursday night. Ritchison followed the mother and girl to the home, shattered their car window to steal the evidence and drove to El Dorado County where he was arrested on Friday, police said.

Detectives said Ritchison confessed to molesting the young girl during interviews. He was booked into the El Dorado County Jail and was later brought to the Santa Cruz County Jail.

Detectives say they are continuing to look through evidence to see if there are any additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to call Santa Cruz Police.
