Bernie blankets Central Coast, adds 3rd stop

UPDATE 5/30/2016 2:20 PM: Bernie Sanders has added a third stop to his Central Coast campaign.

On Wednesday, the democratic presidential candidate will speak at the Spreckles Veterans Memorial Building for a press conference on fracking.

The event is closed to the public.

ORIGINAL POST: Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has added a second campaign appearance on the Central Coast on Tuesday, May 31.

KION has confirmed with Sanders’ Deputy National Press Secretary Sarah Ford that Sanders will appear at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz.

Doors open at 10am with admission on a first come, first served basis. The program begins at 1pm.

Later that day, Bernie bolts to Monterey for another of what his campaign calls “Future to Believe In” rallies in Monterey, with that program starting at 7pm.

Hollywood celebrities made a stop in Salinas Saturday, May 28 ahead of the Vermont Senator’s visit to the Central Coast and the primary on June 7th.

They are traveling around the state as part of the “Bernie Bus Tour.”

Actress Rosario Dawson told KION she is supporting Sanders because he doesn’t give in to corporate greed and he has fought for issues she believes in.

“He represents our values and he fought for us on a lot of issues so it is time for us to fight for him,” said Dawson.

Actress Shailene Woodley and Actor Kendrick Sampson joined Dawson in Salinas.

The three celebrities all had one common message, your vote matters!

“We have to use our platform and do what we can to push people to get out there and vote regardless of who they are voting for. Get to the polls and make a difference,” said Sampson.

“For me it is about educating people about what a luxury it is to have the right to vote in America,” said Woodley.
