UPDATE: One dead and another seriously hurt after double shooting in East Salinas Sunday night

UPDATE 5/9/16 8:07 A.M.: Police have identified the man killed as22-year-old Cesar Ortiz Hernandez.

An unidentified 42-year-old man is now listed in stable condition.

Police say the two men were talking outside of an apartment complex when they were both shot multiple times.

The gunman ran northbound on Atlantic toward Del Monte. He was described as a Hispanic male, 17-18 years old, dressed in dark clothing.

This shooting is being investigated as gang related.

PREVIOUS STORY: One person is dead and another is in the hospital in critical condition after a shooting on the 1000 block of Atlantic Street, according to the Salinas Police Department.

Both victims were taken to the hospital where one of the victims died.

It was less than a week ago that officers were investigating a double shooting after two men sitting in a car near Acosta Street were shot multiple times.

In that shooting a 27-year-old man died on scene and the second victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
