Facebook rolls out new emojis
The like button is something we all know very well in the world of Facebook, and after years of suggestions and complaints, Facebook has finally expanded on the button to show some new emotions. Facebook users will now be able to show what they’re actually feeling when skimming through their Facebook feed.
The like button has been expanded to five different emoticons, each with their own little face. They now include love, ha-ha, wow, sad, and angry. For years, users had complained about the lack of options when it came to acknowledging people’s posts, specifically wanting a dislike button. They may not have made that option, though the “angry” face comes close. While many are happy about the new options, some think it’s pushing us further into the world of less human interaction.
“If it’s your sister or brother or whatever, instead of telling my sister, you look good sister, you look good cousin, or whatever, they just put a heart and that’s it. You know, it’s like the more technology we get, the more impersonal we get,” said Facebook user, Salvador Haro.
In the less than 24 hours since the release, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said that the love emoticon has been used the most, but for those of you who don’t like change, don’t worry…the like button is still there and is still the fastest option to acknowledge a post.
As mentioned, the “love” emoji is currently the most popular since the release of the five, but as we get closer and closer to election season, we predict the “angry” emoji might try to rival that.
