Man barricades himself in apartment, threatens people with fake bow and arrows
A 57-year-old man from San Juan Bautista is behind bars after barricading himself inside his apartment, threatening to kill deputies, and lying about an injured woman in his home.
On Tuesday night, the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office responded to his home on Muckelemi Street. Reports said the suspect was armed with a bow, arrows, and a baseball bat. It was also reported that the suspect was shooting arrows from his apartment.
When deputies arrived, Marco Cecena stated he intended to kill them. Deputies evacuated neighbors in the area as he started threatening them as well.
Two Hostage Negotiators from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office arrived to help. Authorities say Cecena then dialed 911 and reported there was an injured and badly bleeding woman in his home.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s SWAT Team responded and deputies eventually forced entry after hearing what sounded like a woman crying. No female was discovered, and Cecena was arrested.
Deputies found multiple knives and a hammer. They say the bow and arrows were toys.
