Body of man swept out to sea near Davenport Beach found near Wilder Ranch State Park
UPDATE 2/22/15 10 AM: The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office confirmed with KION that the body of Peter Koci washed ashore on Wilder Ranch State Park.
An autopsy on Monday confirmed this development. Koci went missing last week. Deputies believed he was swept out to sea near Davenport Beach.
UPDATE 2/16/16 3:45 PM: The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office released photographs of the man they say was possibly swept out to sea on Saturday.
Deputies said Peter Koci was reported missing Saturday by a friend who was collecting beach glass with him. The friend last saw him walking southbound on Bonny Doon Beach around 1:30 in the afternoon.
On the same day, deputies responded to Davenport Beach for a human body spotted in the ocean, but didn’t find anything after an extensive search.
Koci was visiting from the Truckee area. Anyone with information on him is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 831-471-1121.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office believes a 54-year-old man was swept out to sea Saturday.
Officials said they believe the 54-year-old was out near Davenport Beach. They said he was supposed to meet a friend in the early evening, but never showed up.
Search crews said so far they’ve searched the north coasts between Scott Creek and Laguna Beach.
