UPDATE: Teen shot in Salinas shooting Tuesday night identified
Salinas Police are investigating a deadly shooting Tuesday night on Mae Avenue. Officers said approximately 75-100 people were on the street when they arrived on scene, but very few witnesses have come forward with information.
Officers found three victims shot near a driveway. Luis Alberto Lucas, 16, has been identified as the victim who died and an 18-year-old male is still in critical condition at a Bay Area hospital after he was shot
Police said a third 18-year-old male victim had a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his upper body and was treated at Natividad Medical Center.
Witnesses who did speak with police explained all three victims were sitting in a car, stopped in front of a home when a vehicle pulled up next to them and started firing shots.
The description of the suspect vehicle varied from a dark colored, full-sized SUV to a white, full-sized pickup truck, traveling northbound on Mae Avenue toward Del Monte Avenue.
Police said it is being investigated as a gang shooting. This is the fifth homicide in the city this year.

Salinas Police said it happened on the 600 block of Mae Avenue Tuesday night.
Part of Mae Avenue is blocked off as police investigate. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol are on scene to help police.
