Public workshops set as King City considers district elections

King City is hosting two public workshops as the council considers a move from at-large elections to district elections.

The first workshop will be on February 18 at Chalone Peaks Middle School. The second will be on February 22 at the King City Arts Magnet School.

On February 23, the council will consider the move, which has been under discussion for more than a year. People in favor of the move have been voicing their concerns over a lack of diversity on the council. Right now, the five members are “at large,” meaning they represent the entire city.

Under district elections, the city would be divided into different districts and voters would vote for candidates running in their respective district.

People are encouraged to bring their questions and opinions about district elections to the workshops.
