Television sales up for Super Bowl 50

The countdown is on for Super Bowl Sunday and there’s likely a lot of football fans that don’t have a ticket. But there may be a cheaper way to watch the game, and with a view that could be even better than the most expensive tickets. The big games almost a week away and if you don’t have a couple thousand dollars to throw down for a ticket. Electronic stores said a lot of people are investing in a big screen T.V. instead.

“Hundreds, hundreds, they’re flying off the shelves right now,” said Best Buy sales manager, Shane Ieans.

Sale representatives said shoppers should be looking for good color, contrast and clarity. With that, you’ll feel like you’re watching from the 50 yard line. Electronic stores have more than 60 different types of T.V.’s on display. The options are endless for those trying gear for the big game.

“Every year right before the Super Bowl pretty much everyone knows that’s the time to buy T.V.s even better than Black Friday usually, especially if you look at the higher end televisions the 4k T.V.s then that’s the best time to buy the televisions,” said Ieans.

For some, the hot prices were too good to pass up.

“You know what I was going to get it not particularly for the super bowl, but now I’m pretty excited to be watching the game on it,” said Carmel resident, Ron Leidig.

The cheapest Super Bowl ticket at last check was going for more than $3,000 and that’s for nose bleeds. As for Leidig, he said he’ll watch from his sofa.
