Check presentation for Santa Cruz Chevron that sold winning Powerball ticket

Powerball fever continues on the Central Coast. A gas station in Santa Cruz is getting a lot of attention after selling a big winning ticket.

“We would like to congratulate Chevron Extra Mile,” said Mike Pratt with the California Lottery.

On Thursday, California Lottery officials presented the Chevron Extra Mile on Soquel Avenue with a jumbo check on behalf of the winner who’s won $638,146 for getting all the numbers except the Powerball.

“It almost hit the big one, but the five out five without the Powerball is
still exciting,” said Bob Carrasco with the California Lottery.

And good for business! Carrasco, a sales rep for the California Lottery said from now on the gas station is going to be a hot spot for lottery lovers.

“This makes you truly one of Santa Cruz’s lucky retailers,” said Pratt during the presentation.

The winning ticket holder is still unknown. Lottery officials said the person has yet to come forward.

“Whoever that person is, it could be a pool of people or hopefully it will
help them out $638,000 is a lot of money so hopefully it will go to a good
cause,” said Carrasco.

Chevron doesn’t get a cut of the winnings. The prize has to be over one million dollars to get a bonus, but all the publicity doesn’t hurt.
