Suspicious death investigation into female body found in Monterey County field

A suspicious death investigation is underway after a female body was found in a field, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the unidentified female was discovered near Nashua Rd. and Highway 1, Wednesday afternoon. She was discovered by a field worker and her age is not known.

Investigators said her body was found without any trauma. Deputies said fire crews were called in to help because her body was found in a slough with limited access.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
