Billion dollar dreams
From helping others, to owning an island, people’s dreams are as big as the $1.5 billion dollar jackpot they could win.
“I would help the community, churches, family. My son said he would help his school,” said Ozzy Borje.
“Help some people out and some donations here and there. I’m sure that’s what I would do,” said Jim Scattini.
“I would buy an island, take all my friends and just live on the island. Forget everything else,” said Ron Johnston.
“It would be family, friends, City, State, Country. Give a little bit to all,” Don Domalaog.
Most people say they usually don’t play, but couldn’t resist this time around.
“You know it’s just fun, I play when it gets big,” said Johnston.
“Once in a great while, maybe our luck will change this time,” said Borje.
The majority of people choose quick picks.
“80-percent of the winners are picked by the computer so that’s what I do,” said Johnston.
While others go a different route…
“We got some fortune cookies, and one of them said something very positive. It doesn’t hurt to try,” said Borje.
Dreams are not the only thing growing from this lotto frenzy, but also business around the Central Coast.
“You have more people coming into the store buying a couple of lotto tickets and yeah, since they are here, they might as well get their loaf of bread, some produce, some meat,” said Star Market Store Manager Victor Kong.
“We have regulars and there’s more people coming in just because they’re like, “Oh the lotto, we should buy tickets and stuff,” Said Lorena Tabera.
