Work on Highway 1/17 starts next week
A project that will widen and resurface the shoulders of Highway 1 and Highway 17 will begin January 4. The work will primarily take place overnight.
Drivers should expect about fifteen to twenty minute delays.
The first phase of the project will last about two months. During that time, the Fishhook will be reduced to one lane Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Caltrans said the Fishhook may be completely closed some nights. Officials suggest using Pasatiempo Drive.
Southbound Highway 17 may also be reduced to one lane Monday through Friday, 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
The second phase will also last about two months. Southbound Highway 17 will be reduced to one lane Monday through Friday from 10 p.m.to 5:30 a.m. The Fishhook will be subject to lane closures and full closure Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. as well. Pasatiempo Drive is the detour.
The project will create two lanes on northbound Highway 1 from the Fishhook.
