Celebrating Christmas on the Central Coast
There’s no cookie cutter way to celebrate Christmas on the Central Coast.
“We first got ice cream then we went to the movie theater and watch Alvin and the Chipmunks,” said Tiziana Aviles
For many people, catching the season’s hottest movies was a must.
“This is what we do on Christmas day, we find a good movie that’s just out and this is part of our Christmas gift,” said Gary Barr.
The latest installment in the Star War saga was a favorite at the box office.
“They took a lot from the original star wars and revamped it and put it back into this story so….it was worth the wait for star wars fans,” said Andrew Kalesh.
“For a lot of the new generation this is the first that they’re seeing. And so it was exciting, it was good stuff,” said Barr.
For those that wanted to unplug this year, they headed to the beach.
“We just made some sandwiches and we’re having a picnic and probably just going to be by the water, not in it, it’s way too cold for that,” said Mireya Wahab.
“I’m really excited to be at the beach,” said Mustafa Shah.
From the beach to restaurants, sun up to sun down… people were out and about in Monterey.
“A lot of the places were closed and we were like ‘oh this place looks open, lets hit it up’ and most amazing Chinese food we’ve ever had,” said Ashley Dejong.
A big change for these Canadians, who are embracing a Central Coast style Christmas
“We usually have big family dinners and everyone over, so it’s nice to have something completely different.” Said Dejong.
The best part about it…no prep and no mess.
“We just went to the table, sat down and we were served,” said Marlene Dejong.
