UPDATE: Donations being accepted for Salinas children killed and tortured
UPDATE 12/22/2015 1:00 PM: The Salinas Police Officers Association Victims Fund is officially up and running.
The association created the fund following the deaths of Delylah and Shaun Tara and the abuse of their 9-year-old sister.
As of Tuesday, Dec. 22, the fund already received about $6,000 in donations.
Those who want to donate, but not online, can mail a check made out to SPOA Victims Fund at Central Coast Federal Credit Union, 4242 Gigling Rd., Seaside, CA 93955-6300.

ORIGINAL STORY: Donations are being accepted by the Salinas Police Department for two children killed because of ongoing physical abuse and a sibling who survived.
On Thursday, the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office said the children, Delylah Tara, 3, and Shaun Tara, 6, were abused in Salinas before their bodies were found in a storage shed in Redding last Sunday. Investigators also believe the children were killed in Salinas.
The Salinas Police Officer’s Association also has a fund set up to collect donations to be used for what is determined to be the most beneficial use. Donations can be made out to “The Salinas POA Victim’s Fund” and sent to Central Coast Credit Union at 4242 Gigling Rd, Seaside, CA 93955.
Donors can also make a deposit in person at the Salinas Police Department at 222 Lincoln Ave., Salinas, or any of the four Central Coast Federal Credit Union locations in Seaside, Salinas, Soledad and King City.
The account will be open for 120 days. Donations are also being accepted for the surviving 9-year-old girl, who was living with the two killed, and is being treated at a hospital in the Sacramento area.
The Plumas Crisis Intervention and Resource Center is also accepting donations for the 9-year-old girl. An account has been set up through Plumas Bank. Checks can be made out to PCIRC, RE: Special Child and sent to Plumas Bank at 336 Main St., Quincy, CA 95971 or can be sent to any Plumas Bank location, just call 530-283-6800. Organizers said about $6,500 has been collected so far and will be used for the 9-year-old as the court sees fit.
Cards and gifts are also being accepted by the Plumas County Department of Social Services for the 9-year-old. They can be sent to 270 County Hospital Rd., Suite 207, Quincy, CA 95971, RE: Special Child.
A fund to help with the cost of funeral arrangements, the Monterey County District Attorney’s Victims of Crime Unit will offer help for funeral arrangements through the California Victims’ Compensation Program, once an application is received.
