King City teacher wins Classroom Makeover

Our local teachers often use their own money to bring much needed supplies to their classroom. That’s why NewsChannel 5 is asking our viewers to nominate teachers who need a Classroom Makeover.

This week we visited Ms. Alvarez’s classroom at Del Rey Elementary School in King City.

Thanks to our sponsor Central Coast Federal Credit Union, Ms. Alvarez was presented with a $500 check. Anchors Spencer Washburn and Amanda Gomez surprised her with the check for being another deserving teacher on the Central Coast.

We asked Ms. Alvarez what she plans to spend the money on.

“It’s definitely going to be put for literacy, something for literacy in the classroom. It means a lot. Especially coming from a student because that is why I became a teacher. To reach our young kids who are going to grow up and be part of our society and I am really excited that I have touched at least one of their lives,” Ms. Alvarez said.
