Holiday vigil for lives lost in Salinas
A holiday vigil in Salinas gave families who have lost loved ones a time to grieve and heal.
The holiday season is often one of the hardest times of the year for them.
“The holidays, you start to think of all of the funny things they did, the goofy things, the things that made them happy,” Delia Alvarado, who lost her son, said. “If it was just me, I wouldn’t decorate my house, but I knew my son loved it so I do it.”
Dozens gathered in Closter Park to remember their loved ones Saturday. The group “A Time for Grieving” hosted the vigil.
“When we light one candle to another, it brings a bond, and we are family,” Debbie Aguilar with “A Time for Grieving” said. “And it’s part of the healing process.”
