Pedestrian killed in crash near Salinas identified

UPDATE 12/3/15 7:03 P.M.: The California Highway Patrol has identified the victim hit and killed by a car Wednesday as 39-year-old Jason William Rudd.

Rudd was a local homeless man.

Investigators are still waiting on toxicology results.

PREVIOUS STORY:

On Wednesday night, a pedestrian was hit and died after a crash involving a driver in a minivan near Alisal Rd. and Hartnell Rd., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers said a male was walking on Alisal Rd. in the middle of the southbound lane and driver Leticia Guzman, 49 of Salinas, didn’t have time to stop before hitting the person at about 50 mph.

Guzman was not arrested and the male was taken to Natividad Medical Center where he later died.
