Sen. Bill Monning seeks re-election in 2016

State Senator Bill Monning is announcing his plans for the upcoming election season — He is seeking re-election to California’s 17th State Senate District.

Monning was once considered a contender for outgoing representative Sam Farr’s seat. But he says he can do more in California in four years than he could do in Washington D.C. in 20.

If re-elected, he wants to continue his work on a global issue.

“I hope to bring greater focus to the immediate crisis of climate change,” Sen. Monning said. “California leads not only the nation, but the world, in our efforts to address the crisis.

As for the 20th Congressional District seat up for grabs, Monning says he will endorse a candidate when the time is right. So far only two candidates have launched campaigns, Jimmy Democrat, a democrat, and Casey Lucius, a Republican.
