Nine iPhones stolen from Monterey Apple store

Burglars stole nine iPhones from the Apple Store at Monterey’s Del Monte Shopping Center Friday afternoon, according to police.

Officers said two suspects got away with $7,500 worth of phones and later drove off in a small red sedan with white striping.

Police said one suspect is described as a black male, 5’7″, 18-20, wearing all black and a red hat. The other suspect was only described as a black male, 5’10” and 18-20 years old.

Officers said they’re looking at surveillance video from inside the store.

This is the fourth time the Apple store has been burglarized since August. Police said over the past year the store was burglarized on these dates:

-1 phone stolen on August 13

-10 phones stolen on October 5

-21 phones stolen on October 13

-9 phones on November 20

Police said some of those cases may be connected.

They’re asking anyone who is approached by a private person selling an iPhone to use caution. Officers said those stolen phones are deactivated and won’t work. Anyone looking to buy a phone from a private person can call Monterey Police to verify if the phone has been stolen or not.
