UPDATE: Man shot multiple times in Salinas
UPDATE 11/18/15 1:40 PM: The Salinas Police Department released more details about Tuesday night’s shooting on Granada Avenue.
According to police, a sergeant was patrolling the area when he heard multiple gunshots and saw a tan Buick LeSabre speed off. The sergeant followed the car into the parking lot of the Monterey County jail and the suspects ran off.
Meanwhile, officers were sent to Granada Avenue on the report of a shooting victim.
Police said a 23-year-old Hispanic man was sitting on his motorcycle, talking to his girlfriend in a driveway while their 4-year-old son played.
Police said the gunman walked up to the 23-year-old and shot him multiple times. The suspect vehicle was parked on Trazado Street.
The victim’s condition is unknown at this time, and so is the motive. Police don’t believe the victim has any gang ties.

UPDATE 11/18/2015 1:16 AM: The perimeter set up near Constitution and Independence Boulevards has been cleared.
Officers were not able to catch any suspects. A semi-auto handgun was located inside the suspect vehicle, which matches the caliber used in the shooting.
The motive for the shooting is unknown at this point and the victim does not appear to have any gang ties. At last check, the victim was still in surgery and his condition is unknown.
ORIGINAL STORY: A man is in the hospital after being shot multiple times in Salinas.
It happened in the 1200 block of Granada Avenue just before 8:30 p.m.
Salinas police officers told NewsChannel 5 the victim is in his early 20s.
The victim was shot in his abdomen and is undergoing surgery.
According to police, officers were in the area when they heard shots fired. Officers later began chasing a suspect.
A perimeter has been set up near Constitution and Independence Boulevards as police search for the suspect.
