World class athletes run Big Sur Half Marathon

Nearly 7,000 thousand runners from all over the world took on the Big Sur Half Marathon in Monterey on Sunday.

The course started and ended in downtown Monterey.

It went down Cannery Row and the Pacific Grove shoreline.

Elisha Barno from Kenya and Kara Goucher of Minnesota were the men and women finishers, both coming in a little past an hour.

“I’m very happy,” said Barno. “Sixty-three it’s a good time for preparation for a marathon.”

“Everyone kind of trying to break each other and everyone was pretty aggressive so I like that,” said Goucher. “It was just really fun. I loved running by the crowds, it was a great time.”

Twenty-thousand dollars was divided amongt the winners.
