Homelessness is tackled in Watsonville

Locals experiencing homelessness or extreme poverty got some much needed help Friday.

The second annual Watsonville Connect was held inside the Veterans Memorial building.

More than 40 agencies offered anything from medical to employment services helping hundreds of people get back on their feet.

“We feel great about providing services to everyone that showed up,” said Peter Connery with Homeless Connect. “We wish we could do more, wish we could provide housing options for people.”

The Homeless Connect Committee says nearly 2,000 thousand people in Santa Cruz County are homeless.
