Jose Velasco will stand trial
The Salinas man who’s arrest went viral in June will stand trial.
Jose Velasco faced a judge Thursday for a preliminary hearing. In June, Velasco was involved in a violent confrontation with police. His arrest got national attention and sparked questions about use of force.
Velasco faces two felonies for allegedly attacking his mother and resisting arrest. He also faces a misdemeanor battery charge.
On Thursday, Velasco was also found to be in violation of his parole.
He’s due back in court on Dec. 1 for arraignment, plus sentencing on his parole violation.
He remains in jail, with bail set at $100,000.
