Sea otter pup rescued in Morro Bay recovering at Aquarium
A sea otter pup rescued in Morro Bay is recovering at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Harbor patrol officers brought the otter to the aquarium on October 19, when she was only one day old.
Kayakers were the first to spot her, washed up on the beach alone. She was first taken to the Marine Mammal Center and then transported to the aquarium.
She’s the 716th otter case at the aquarium. She’s now getting around the clock help from caregivers who are working day by day to boost her immune system. She’ll spend nearly seven weeks with them, and then spend time with a sea otter surrogate mom at the aquarium.
Eventually, the otter will be released back into the ocean.
