UPDATE: Man killed during Seaside officer-involved shooting, investigators said

UPDATE 10/14/15 5:31 PM: The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the man shot in the Seaside Auto Center Wednesday morning has died.

Investigators have identified him as Michael Donald Clark, 59, of Castroville. They said Clark died at Natividad Medical Center.

UPDATE 10/14/2015 1:50 PM:Seaside Police said around 11:00 AM, employees at Cal’s Chrysler in Seaside near North Fremont Blvd. and Clementina Ave. called 911 because a man was inside the business acting very strangely. A store manager said employees have dealt with this man inside the business before.

Police said three officers responded to the scene. They said the man shot at officers and one Seaside police officer returned fire, hitting him. The man was taken to the hospital and all three officers are OK.

The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office is taking over the investigation. This is the third officer-involved shooting case within the past four weeks on the Monterey Peninsula.

Police won’t comment on whether a Taser was used during the incident. The area will be blocked off for several more hours.

PREVIOUS STORY: An officer-involved shooting is being investigated at Cal’s Chrysler in the Seaside Auto Mall Wednesday morning, according to police.

Officers said Police Chief Vicki Myers and Monterey County District Attorney Dean Flippo plan to make more information available soon.

Police said the suspect has been taken to the hospital.
