Monterey County testing emergency notification system Thursday

On Thursday, Monterey County plans to test its emergency notification system.

The Alert Monterey County system is used to notify the public of important safety concerns during natural disasters, evacuations, blackouts, law enforcement operations and missing persons.

The emergency test is also happening the same day as the Great Shake Out drill, preparing residents for an earthquake disaster.
