Salinas high school student detained after posting threatening tweet
A student from Salinas High School is in custody following a threatening tweet about shooting the high school.
Several students brought up the tweet to school staff Wednesday morning.
The posted threat was a picture of graffiti in one of the bathroom’s of the school, police said.
The 14-year-old was identified and held in the school’s office.
A search was conducted at the teen’s home. Police said no additional evidence was found at his home. The student claimed not to be responsible for the graffiti.
After an extensive investigation by police there was no further threat to the safety of the school.
The teen is now at the Monterey County Juvenile hall facing a count of Terrorist threats.
