Salinas man killed in Highway 101 accident
On Monday, California Highway Patrol officers said a 29-year-old Salinas man was killed in a car accident over the weekend.
Officers said the accident happened on Saturday at about 11:30 p.m. The victim was traveling southbound on Highway 101 near Boronda Road in a 2003 Nissan Altima at 65 miles per hour.
For unknown reasons, the car veered off the roadway and collided with a big rig, parked on the shoulder, officers said.
It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.
