Pedestrian crash shuts down Santa Cruz intersection for several hours

UPDATE 9/21/15 6:27 p.m.: Santa Cruz Police said they are trying to identify the woman hit in a crash early Monday morning at Soquel and Morrissey.

Officers are asking for the public’s help in identifying her.

PREVIOUS STORY: A woman was found lying on the road near Soquel Ave. and Morrissey Blvd. Monday morning after a crash involving a car, according to Santa Cruz Police.

Officers said the road was closed from about 5:54 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. while investigators worked to clear the scene.

They said the woman has not been identified and was taken to a Bay Area hospital by air ambulance with major injuries.

The driver of the car was a 24-year-old woman from San Jose. Officers said she was driving a 2001 Acura and stayed on scene. She was not arrested or cited because the investigation is ongoing, officers said.
